The Mira Sport Max Airboost is one of the most exciting electric showers out right now. Mira has combined technology and luxury to build this outstanding shower. It is fairly simple to install and will upgrade your bathroom. As well as boosting your bathroom’s aesthetic appeal, as the name suggests, has Airboost technology that boosts the flow of your shower, making it feel more powerful.

As well as Clearscale™ technology, it also features Mira’s Sensi-flo™ technology, which is designed to prevent scalding from sudden surges of hot water, as well as Mira’s Opti-flo™, which optimises the flow of your shower all year round.

To top all of this off, the Mira Sport Max Airboost has a large 110mm shower head, that comes complete with 4 spray patterns to choose from, with rub-clean nozzles for easy cleaning of limescale.

Temperature Controls

On the Sport Max Airboost, the temperature is controlled via the temperature control dial, which works just like any traditional model. In addition, this unit comes with a phased shutdown which will help reduce the likelihood of any hot water existing afterwards.

Furthermore, this model also benefits from Mira Sensi-flo™ technology which is designed to prevent scalding. Most electric showers have just a thermal trip mechanism that stops and starts the power. Hot water can collect inside the shower during this time meaning that the user will be scalded when the power comes back on. The Mira Sensi-flo™ works by detecting differences in the flow (e.g. a blockage or kink in the hose) and then stopping the water from being heated, in order to allow it to cool down as soon as possible.

In terms of the power consumption rate, the Sport Max Airboost has an electrical power rating from 9kW to 10.8kW and is ranked A in terms of energy efficiency, making the Mira Sport Max Airboost very economical to use. Here is the energy efficiency chart, from the manufacturer’s (Mira) website.

Showerhead

The large 110mm handheld showerhead has four spray actions to choose from: start, soothe, force and eco, though the eco is the same as the “start” spray pattern. This showerhead has a rub-clean nozzle, making it very easy to clean and maintain.

Design

Speaking to the design, this electric shower is very modern while also being completely functional. The fascia is finished in a sleek white with the rest of the shower in chrome. The Mira Sport Max Airboost has super simple power controls being activated with just a push of a button. It also has separate temperature and power controls, making for a smooth showering experience.

Mira Clearscale™ Technology

Like all the premium Mira showers, the Mira Sport Max Airboost also comes with Mira’s Clearscale™ technology, which is designed to reduce limescale by 50%. This means that it will last longer and save you from having to replace it. Inside the electric shower, the coil has been designed in such a way that there are fewer areas for limescale to build up. Also, the coils design also means that there is more space for water to flow, making it harder for limescale to settle. The rub-clean nozzles in their showerheads are also part of the Clearscale™ system.

Warranty

The unit comes with a 2-year warranty, ensuring that it can be bought with confidence and peace of mind. It is important to note that the two-year warranty only covers domestic installations. For non-domestic installations, the Mira Sport Max Airboost 9kW is covered for one year.

Verdict: Should You Buy The Mira Sport Max Airboost?

So, is the Mira Sport Max Airboost worth it? Absolutely. I fully believe that this electric shower is worth purchasing. Ultimately, if you want the perfect combination of luxury and functionality this model is for you. It looks great and has lots of great features too.

In some of the less positive customer reviews, one consumer claimed that the temperature control was too sensitive, meaning small changes to the temperature dial would result in a considerable temperature change. At the end of the day, not all electric showers will function the same and will take some time to get used to.

One of my favourite things about the Mira Sport Max Airboost is the Airboost feature itself. I have owned several showers – both standard and electric, and the flower is never powerful enough! Having this feature is an excellent addition to have and shows that the team at Mira have been listening to their customers’ comments!
